Events at the Southwick Public Library
Color Chat and Cookies (for Adults!): Join us November 18 from 6:30-8pm. All materials are provided. Come enjoy a calm evening of coloring and snacking on cookies. We’ll have coffee or tea as well.
Socrates Café: The Socrates Cafe is an opportunity for ordinary people to wrestle with the big questions in a discussion. Alternative viewpoints are encouraged and explored. All discussion takes place in an atmosphere of respect and encouragement. People from all walks of life are encouraged to attend and contribute their unique views. Join us November 19 at 6:30pm.
Evening Book Discussion: For anyone who has wanted to come to our afternoon book discussion, but can’t, join us for a new evening book discussion for adults beginning November 20 at 7pm. All are welcome. Copies are available to borrow at the library. We will be reading and discussing “The Great Alone” by Kristin Hannah. Refreshments will be served.
Sit ‘n’ Stitch: For knitters, crochet-ers, and embroiderers! Get help with a project or enjoy some quiet time to work. Our next meeting is November 27 at 6pm.
Candy & Cookie Swap: The Cookbook Club will not meet in November and will hold their December meeting in the form of a cookie and candy swap! Join us December 3 at 6:30pm. Registration is required. Please provide us with a copy of your recipe in advance- we will be making a booklet for all attendees! Participants are asked to make 4 dozen of their favorite cookies or candies. (And bring an extra container to take some home in!). Please be advised: Neither the food served at cookbook club, and prepared in home kitchens, nor the facilities have been inspected by the state or the local public health agency.
Friends of the Library Basket Raffle: The Friends of the Library are looking for contributions of gift baskets that will be displayed at the library from November 18-December 13. Raffle tickets will be available in the library during this time. Individuals, groups, clubs, and businesses are invited to contribute a gift basket. Finished baskets may be dropped off November 13-15. They will be on display November 18-December 13. The drawing will be held December 14. Proceeds from this raffle provide funding for programs and resources that are not in the library’s general budget. The Basket Maker’s packet is available at the library or in the town clerk’s lobby. This packet includes instructions, a form for listing the contents of the basket, and a tax receipt.
Southwick Public Library’s Giving Tree November 8-December 20: From November 8- December 20, we will be collecting homemade or new hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves to give to the local Department of Children and Families. Please bring in any new items you have and add them to the tree to give others the gift of warmth this season. Thank you.
