MONTGOMERY – Edward (Ed) J Koziol Jr, 68, of Montgomery, MA passed away April 4, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Westfield, MA on March 28, 1952 to the late Edward Koziol Sr and Elmira (Marsh) Koziol. Eddie attended local schools and graduated from Westfield Trade School class of 1970. He resided in Westfield and Southwick prior to moving to Montgomery in 1987. Ed was a quality control engineer who helped manufacturers obtain certification in ISO 9001 (International Organization for Standardization) as well as training to stay certified. Some companies Eddie worked with were Digital Equipment Corp, Boulevard Machine and Electro Flex Heat. For the last 30 years he owned Ed’s Classic Auto specializing in buying and selling classic vehicles, especially Corvettes. Ed enjoyed all forms of motor sports including cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles and cigarette boats. He started his drag racing career in the late 60’s at Lebanon Valley Dragway with his signature Sickness cars. In the 80’s Ed switched racing series to stock cars driving at Riverside Park Speedway and Thompson Speedway in the pro stock and tour type modified divisions. Switching back to drag racing in the mid 90’s Eddie went on to win several class titles at national events and was a national NHRA record holder in SS/C in 2004. Ed was also a Shriner for the past 20 years.
He was predeceased by his parents and step-daughter Gina Argraves. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 25 years Helen H Koziol, brother Robert Koziol, step-sons Gene Argraves and David Argraves, nephew Bobby Koziol, uncle John (Doc) Koziol, many step-grand children, step-great grand children, cousins and many, many racing buddies and fellow auto enthusiasts.
