HUNTINGTON: Mary J. (Barr) Farrar, 70, (1949-2020) called home on December 14, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Westfield to the late Earl and Marjorie (Rogers) Barr. Mary received her Associates Degree from Holyoke Community College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Westfield State. Mary worked for the United States Postal service as a clerk for approximately 20 years in Huntington, Blandford, Chester and other towns; she worked for over 10 years as the Postmaster for Russell before she retired. She loved caring for people and was the caretaker for her Aunt Lillian St. Germain and dearly departed Uncle Frank Rogers. Mary loved caring for and taking in stray cats, going shopping, her tea, playing cards and family gatherings. Although being a week short of her 71st birthday, Mary will always be forever “39”.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Larry D. Farrar of Huntington, her loving children, Michael R. Farrar of Montgomery and Sheila Farrar and her fiancé Sean Stopa of Montgomery, a sister Wendy Mills and her husband Phil of Florida, her four cherished grandchildren, Daniel, Harrison, James and Keira, their mother Judy Farrar of Southampton, her brother-in-law Bruce Boistelle, many nieces nephews and cousins, and her best friends Roberta Whitaker and Kay Marcia. She was predeceased by a brother, John Barr and a sister Susan Boistelle.
A Funeral Home Service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM in Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA 01085 with burial to be in the spring at Norwich Bridge Cemetery, Huntington. A visiting hour will precede the service from 9-10:30 AM in the funeral home.
