DANVERS: Audrey A. Tufts (Covey) age 85 passed away peacefully at home May 17, 2021. She resided in Danvers since 1983 and was the wife of George L. Tufts and daughter of Elizabeth Baker Covey and Wesley Covey.
Born in Lynn February 14, 1936, she spent many years as a community activist benefiting children and military and was a member of the Woman’s Auxiliary Post 240, Post 507 and React Rescue 8 in the 1960’s, putting on Lynn’s 1st Easter Egg Hunt in 1967, visited Lynn Hospital pediatrics, and leader for Danny Thomas Teenage March in Lynn. Earlier she had earned her Nursing License but her passion was her crafts. Audrey was President of the Westfield Colonial Pine Acres Tenant’s Association in 1976 and appointed as Member of The Office of Community Development Program Advisory Committee in 1977.
In addition, she leaves behind her children, Audrey Yakup and husband John, Richard Beaupre, Elizabeth Fuller, Debra Jean, Chris Tufts and wife Caroline, George Tufts Jr. and wife Maria. She was preceded in death by a son Joseph Beaupre, a granddaughter Michelle Jean, sisters Evelyn Parks, Rita Mageary, Theresa Hinds, Stella Weaver, Patricia Beaupre, and brothers Joseph, John, James, Alfred, Lester, William George, Philip, Chester. She leaves behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Service is Private
