WESTFIELD – Donald E. Perry, 91, (1929-2021) passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 3, 2021. He was born in Springfield to the late Charles and Irene (Lafond) Perry. Donald served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953, attained the rank of Corporal and received the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). He worked for Friendly Ice Cream Corporation for more than forty years and was the manager of the syrup department at the manufacturing plant in Wilbraham. He retired in 1989. Don was an excellent golfer and was a longtime member of Shaker Farms Country Club in Westfield. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who was devoted to his family.
Sadly, Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife of 34 years, Mary (Howard) Perry in 1991 and is survived by his loving daughter, Jacqueline E. Paye and her husband Roger of West Springfield, his cherished granddaughters Laura and Stephanie Paye, and his adored companion of more than 20 years Joyce Gingras of Southampton. He is also survived by his brothers John “Jack” Perry and his wife Barbara, Richard Perry and his wife Anita of West Springfield, his sister Katherine Duclos, his sister-in-law Anna Pitoniak of Westfield and his brother-in-law Ronald Carrier of Westfield. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Gerald.
All services for Donald will be private. He will be buried with Military Honors in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westfield.
