WESTFIELD: Joan C. (Nosek) Towne, 70, (1951-2021) of Westfield, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. Joan was born in Clinton, MA on October 24, 1951, the daughter of the late William C. Nosek and Doris L. (White) Nosek. Joan lived her childhood in Lancaster, attended Lancaster schools and then Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton, graduating in 1969. After raising her children, Joan attended Westfield State College while working at Noble & Cooley Drum Company, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1990. She worked as an accountant for several years at Strathmore Paper Company, Westfield and later for Spalding Company, Chicopee. Joan was a very gifted and creative person. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch and art. She was very generous with her artistic creations, giving them to friends and family. She loved to attend family reunions and was a diehard Red Sox fan.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her second husband, William “Bill” L. Towne in 2018. Joan is survived by her first husband, Lewis J. Cuttell, of Huntington, her children, Cara L. Cuttell, of Westfield, Keith A. Cuttell, of Huntington, and Julie A. Cuttell, of Westfield, a granddaughter, Olivia M. Vincent, of Westfield, a sister, Sharon A. Nosek, of Leominster, and two brothers, Daniel J. Nosek and wife Marie, of Glenville, NY, and Dr. Michael T. Nosek and wife Lynn, of Lancaster, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their thanks to the Baystate Hospice for their gentle care of Joan in recent days.
Joan will be interred with her husband Bill in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA, following a private graveside service. Online condolences may be placed at www.FirtionAdams.com
