Judith L. (Warren) Wood

WESTFIELD – Judith L. (Warren) Wood, 82, passed into eternity in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday July 1, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 14, 1939 in Boston, MA, Judy grew up locally in Agawam, MA, graduating from Agawam High School in 1957. She attended North Adams State Teachers College in North Adams, MA briefly before marrying.

She was married for 16 years to her first husband Christopher A. Hodges (now deceased) with whom she had three children. Following their divorce, she married David P. Wuesthoff (now deceased). She was married to her current husband Ernest K. Wood for 38 1/2 years.

Judy was an Administrative Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools for Franklin County before her retirement.

Judy loved music, learning to play the piano at a very early age. She was a member of the Color Guard in high school, sang in every church choir she attended, and was a bell ringer with the Golden Bell Choir in Agawam, MA. She was loved by all who knew her and would light up any room she entered with her wonderful smile and calm spirit. Having recently moved to Armbrook Village in Westfield, she was adored by staff and residents alike. Family was so important to her and she cherished visits with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved dancing with Ernie and playing any kind of board game (especially Scrabble) as well as making her own earrings and necklaces.

Judy leaves behind her loving husband Ernest K. Wood, her two sisters: Janice (Warren) Ludemann and her husband John of Brimfield (soon to be Largo, FL), Jerilyn (Warren) Boduch and her husband John of Powder Springs, GA; her four children: Scott Hodges and his wife Diane of Southwick, MA, Cheri (Hodges) Barbarotto and her husband Anthony of Lakeland, TN, Christine (Hodges) Avery and her partner Darren Sauter of Felton, CA, and Todd Wood and his wife Elise of Hebron, CT, along with 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held at the Valentine Mansion, 270 Maple Street, Springfield, MA on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with private burial in Agawam Center Cemetery. In honor of Judy, please wear a colorful outfit (no black!), complete with your favorite pair of earrings and/or a hat!

In lieu of flowers, Judy requested you consider a donation to one of the following organizations: Salvation Army (where Judy bought her many fine outfits and hats), your local Food Pantry, North Leverett Baptist Church in MA, or any charity of your choice.
