WESTFIELD – Barbara Lou Chiampa passed away on Wednesday, April 3rd at Westfield Gardens at the age of 83. Born August 8th, 1940 in Boston, MA to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Preston) Chiampa.
Barbara graduated from Massachusetts College of Art with a BFA degree in Art Education. She taught art for several years in the West Springfield School system before moving to the Westfield Public School system. After 34 years of inspiring young artists Barbara retired from Westfield High. One of Barbara’s greatest loves was her pets, always having one or more dogs to spoil. She was a talented painter and photographer receiving many honors in competitions in both mediums. Watching the Boston Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics were a big part of Barbara’s interests.
Barbara leaves a brother Phillip Chiampa (Toni Lyn), several nieces and a nephew and numerous friends.
She was predeceased by her sister Judith Chiampa Walker in 1999.
Firtion-Adams Funeral Home on Broad Street in Westfield is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private in CT. Her friends are grateful for the care received at Armbrook Village and Westfield Gardens.
