Stefania “Stella” Fisher

WESTFIELD – Stefania “Stella” K. (Tarnauskas) Fisher, 97, (1926-2024) passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15th, 2024. She was born in Westfield, MA on October 18th, 1926 to the late Simon and Anna (Vitkaits) Tarnauskas and was a graduate of Westfield High School.

She was a devoted member of St. Peter and St. Casimir Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality and gave many hours of service, from teaching Sunday School to cleaning the church weekly. Stella was a homebody who loved her family and taking care of them. She spent hours tending her vegetable garden which was lush with strawberries, tomatoes, and corn. She canned all sort of fruits and vegetables, including her famous Lithuanian pickles. She baked her family all sort of goodies, including her delicious lemon meringue pie and Magic Squares. She was most passionate about fishing, and in the old days was often seen casting her line with her beloved husband, best friend, and fishing companion Luther “Red” J. Fisher who passed in 2016.

She leaves her two loving daughters Kathy “Kit” St. Mary and her husband Mike of Marstons Mills and Rosey Bonner and her husband Brian of Westfield, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Stella was predeceased by her son John L. Fisher, her sister Sister Ann Tarnauskas, FMM and her brothers Charles, Samuel, and Benedict.

Her family would like to thank the staff at the Westfield Gardens for the care and compassion shown to Stella and her family.
