WESTFIELD – Sometimes, a person’s heart is so full of love, love for family, love for friends, love for neighbors, love for strangers, love for furry critters, love for life, and love from others that it just can no longer keep that love contained within the physical limitations of a human heart and must send that love out into the Universe for others to share. Such was the case with Elaine Ann Morris, who passed suddenly on the morning of Tuesday, June 18th, 2024, at Baystate Hospital, after spending a beautiful Sunday celebrating with family, food, and fun.
Elaine loved traveling, especially to the ocean, and especially with her life-long best friend, Chris, and her family, whom Elaine considered her family too. She loved crafting and making gifts for others, gardening, chocolate, and cats. She never missed sending cards for birthdays or holidays and never came to a party empty-handed. She loved being with the people she loved and always had a big smile. Despite hardships, including a house fire where she lost everything, Elaine was always positive, kind, and hopeful.
Elaine was born on March 3rd, 1945, and grew up in Westfield, the oldest of four children. She graduated from Westfield High School and studied at Holyoke Community College. She worked for Hannon Detective Agency, Yellow Freight, Columbia Bicycle, and as a school crossing guard in Westfield.
She was predeceased by her parents, Herman Morris and Genevieve (Cooper) Morris, and her brother, Alan Morris. To share her love with others, she leaves behind her cat Lou; her two sisters, Shirley Adams and Gail Jensen; nieces and nephews Kenneth Adams, Michael Adams and his wife Megan; Stephanie Morris and her husband Sean Elovirta; Jacquelyn Morris and her husband Michael Seaha, all of Westfield, Kaitlin Jensen of Southwick, and Nathan Jensen and his wife Nicole of Granville; as well as many great-nieces and nephews who brought so much joy into her life: Bianca, Kenny, Jonathan, Mikey, Cole, Massimo (Mimo), Aurelio, Maurizio, Edward (EJ), and Ava. She also leaves behind her second family, the Grossmans of Gardner, MA: Chris and Raymond (deceased), their older son Mike and his son Wyatt of Newport, MN, and their younger son Dave and his wife Erin, and their children Lucas and Owen of Bedford, NH. Over the years, Elaine had many personal care assistants who looked after her, including Irene, Mare, Ashley, and Kathi, as well as neighbors at Lee Lang Terrace who gave her a sense of community in her final years.
Elaine’s memorial will be held on Sunday, July 14th, starting with a gathering from 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. and a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA 01077.
To honor her memory, please do something kind for someone today and share Elaine’s love by being what you loved most about the people who are gone.
