WESTFIELD – Susan Ann Krieg, age 77, of Westfield Massachusetts, departed this life on July 2nd, 2024, following a courageous battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her devoted children. Born on April 3rd, 1947, in Islip New York to the late Gustaf and Dorothy (Schultz) Hornell.
Raised in Easton Connecticut, Susan graduated from Joel Barlow High School. She furthered her schooling at Smith College transferring to the University of Bridgeport where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She further went on to earn her master’s degree in psychology from Westfield State University, while raising her children as a stay-at-home mom and devoted wife. Susan served Westfield State University for 32 years where she helped to shape the University’s learning disability program, retiring in 1998 as Associate Director of the Banacos Academic Learning Center.
Susan loved watching live sporting events, spending time with her family, including her three goldendoodles and Chardonnay.
Susan was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years W. Lee Krieg.
Susan leaves her three children, Micheal Krieg and his wife Tonya of Southwick MA, daughter Carrie Casey and her husband Jeff of Westfield MA, and son Thomas Krieg of Westfield MA. She also leaves her grandchildren in which she adored beyond words, Jagger and Jace Turgeon, Abby and Lizzy Casey, and Greysen Krieg.
Calling hours honoring Susan’s life will be held on Saturday, July 13th, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield.
