Betty J. Ezold

WESTFIELD – Betty J. (Strange) Ezold, (1935-2024) a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on November 30th, surrounded by her family after a long 8-year battle with Dementia/Alzheimer’s.

She leaves her husband James, son Todd, and daughter-in-law Debbie all of Westfield MA. Betty leaves three grandchildren: Taylor and her husband Chris Alphen of Maynard MA, Todd Ezold and his wife Amanda of Tampa Florida, and Sydney and her husband Ryan Mickiewicz of Brewster MA, as well as two great-grandchildren Jason Ezold and Parker Mickiewicz, and many nieces and nephews. Betty also leaves her brother Donald Strange, sister Paula and husband Tony Martucci, and brothers-in-law Billy Ezold and James Mahoney.

Betty was predeceased by her parents Donald and Dorothy Strange, father-in-law Bill Ezold, mother-in-law Shirley Ezold, brother Bruce Strange and his wife Johanna, sisters-in-law Linda Strange and Evelyn Mahoney.

Betty was born in Springfield MA and graduated from Technical High School after which she entered the medical field and worked there 40+ years. Betty started in the Psychiatric field but worked the lion share of her career in the OBGYN field. After a short retirement she ended her career working in the finance department at HFP Sprinkler. Betty’s hobbies included cooking, which was she was outstanding at. With her husband Jim she loved travel, hiking (Mt. Katahdin in Maine various times), fishing, and white-water rafting. But her greatest joy in life was her family and their well-being, and their accomplishments in sports and careers. She never missed a baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, or hockey game when her son or any of her grandkids played.

James and his family would like to give special thanks to Baystate Hospice and to the Aides of Shiela, Liz, Donna E., Cindy, Ann Marie, and the nurses Andrea and Johnathan for their devotion and love given to Betty for the past 29 months.

A Funeral Service for Betty will be held on Monday, December 9th, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, with visiting hours to precede the service from 4-6:30 p.m. Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. www.firtionadams.com
