GRAYSLAKE, IL — Jean M. Holl, 97, (1927–2024) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died December 5th, 2024, in the company of angels.
Jean was born on the first day of Spring, March 20th, 1927, in Westfield, MA, to the late Julius and Mildred Jerr. Married to Julius Holl for 68 years, they were wed in 1947, and Jean helped build the family home—the same house she raised the family in as a resident of Southwick for over 70 years. During those years, Jean wore many hats—accomplished cook, cub scout den mother, library patron, bookkeeper for Julius Holl Plumbing & Heating (25 years), George Bricks Dentistry receptionist, and a Noble Hospital volunteer. Jean was also a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Southwick.
In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Julius Holl; two brothers and sister-in-law, Richard and Lynn Jerr and William Jerr; and by her two sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara Jerr and JoAnn and William Cerveny.
Jean is survived by a son and his wife, Ronald Julius and Janice Holl of Wales; a daughter and her husband, Barbara Jean and Brian Elkins, of Grayslake, IL.; three grandchildren: Jessica Holl and her husband, Lars Behrendt, of Uppsala, Sweden; Christopher Holl and his wife Katherine, of Plymouth, MA and Lindsay Jean Ray and her husband, Ted Ray, of McHenry, IL; and six great-grandchildren: Sophie Jean and Charlotte Kay Holl, Sune Behrendt Holl, Audrey Jean, Russell Gerhard, and Addison LaVerne Ray.
Calling hours will take place from 9:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, December 14th, 2024, at the Southwick Forastiere Funeral and Cremation , 624 College Highway, Southwick. A funeral service will then take place at 12:00 Noon in Christ Lutheran Church, 568 College Highway, Southwick . Burial will be in the Spring at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, 139 Lockhouse Road, Westfield, MA. www.forastiere.com
