
SPRINGFIELD – Irene O. Theberge, 80, (1945-2026) a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1st, 2026. She had been a resident of Indian Orchard for over 30 years.
Born in Van Buren, Maine, on December 8th, 1945, Irene was raised in a hardworking family that shaped her into the strong, compassionate, and loving woman she became.
She was predeceased by her parents, David and Mary Ouellette; her son, Mark Theberge; and her sisters, Theresa Martineau and Jacqueline Guerin and her late husband Claude Theberge.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Lisa Wilson, and her husband Paul; her son, Wayne Theberge, and his wife Rita; her sisters, Mable Daigle, Linda Gerlip and her husband Ronald, Pamala Trank and her husband John; her brothers, George and Joseph Ouellette; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Irene adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She also cherished her longtime companion, her cat Precious.
A woman of deep faith, Irene found comfort in praying the Holy Rosary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, playing cards, traveling, camping, fishing, hunting, dancing, and spending time at the beach.
Irene worked tirelessly throughout her life, often holding multiple jobs to support her family. She was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, humility, and willingness to go above and beyond.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Parker Street, Indian Orchard, on Saturday, February 14th, at 1:30 p.m. in the lower level in the chapel.
