William McAllister Beattie

WESTFIELD – William McAllister Beattie, born on November 3rd, 1932, Belfast, Northern Ireland, was called home on March 18th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

William was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, June, on April 7th, 2024.

William, known to many as Billy Bunter of Belfast, was a kind, loving, gentleman, husband and father to his three daughters, Louise, June and Michele. William was a devout Christian, as was evident in how he lived, how he loved, how he taught and how he helped others. William was a talented musician, playing both saxophone and flute, and was a member of the Ravenhill Flute Band, Northern Ireland, for many years. William immigrated to the United States on June 10th, 1973, with his wife and daughters, and made an incredible life for his family, he was a hard worker, and a great provider, family and God came first in his life, in all things. William and his wife June owned several homes and properties throughout their married life together; they were a great team! They enjoyed traveling to many places all over but especially returning home to Ireland to spend time with their family.

William is survived by his three daughters and their husbands, Louise E. (Beattie) Saloio, of Chester, MA, husband John, June M. (Beattie) Tanski, of Westfield, MA, husband John, and Michele (Beattie) Mayhew, of Westfield, MA, husband John. William had ten grandchildren, Courtney, Shannon, Cristina, Christopher, Michael, Natalie, Matthew, Hannah, Jonathan, Gracie, and five great-grandchildren, Eva, Elizabeth, Jeremy, Rowan, Ryan, Dawson and Evelyn, as well as the anticipated arrival of three new great-grandchildren in spring and summer of this year. He will be greatly missed by all of his family, both here in the United States and in Northern Ireland. William also leaves behind several nieces, Eleanor, Ann, Irene, Hilda, Sandra and Jacqueline, as well as their husbands, children and grandchildren.

We would like to thank the incredible staff at Armbrook Village, Compass Care Unit, for their constant care and support, LeeAnn helped us through this difficult journey with compassion, patience and kindness, and gave us a better understanding of this terrible disease, Dementia. William received loving care in his last days from Mercy Hospital Palliative Care Unit, where he received a lot of love, kindness and care from his nurses there. We would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to our father’s private Aide, Lisa Bovat. Lisa has been walking this journey with us for several years, throughout our mother’s illness, as well as our father’s journey through Dementia. Lisa was like a member of our family, and a close and dear friend to our father.

A private Celebration of Life ceremony will be held to honor our father, with family and friends. www.firtionadams.com
