WESTFIELD – Roy (1958-2026) was called safely home on Friday, September 4th surrounded by the love and comfort of his wife, son, and faithful companion.
Roy was the son of the late Stanley H. Ripley and Carolyn Ripley Herrick. He leaves his wife of 38 years, Ann Marie, son, Daniel, and his faithful companion, Ozzy. He also leaves his brother, Robert Ripley (Karen) of W. Virginia, sister Robin Fournier (Norman) of Tennessee, brother-in-law, Richard Radzick (Leona), brother-in-law, William LePage, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
As a proud American craftsman, the proprietor of Roy’s Custom Carpentry, he always had a long list of clients waiting for his expertise; whether new construction or crafting custom cabinets and woodwork (his specialty).
Roy took great pride in his work and always strived to give his clients the “WOW” factor. Just OK wasn’t good enough for him. Consequently, Roy built his clientele over the years, and many clients became good friends and repeat customers. Needless to say, he never had to advertise.
As an avid outdoorsman, Roy loved hunting and fishing, carrying on his Blandford family tradition.
His two great escapes were Mt. Holly, VT (aka the Hawkins Farm), where he and Danny enjoyed many years hunting with the Hawkins family and friends; and Lake George, where he and his family enjoyed summer vacations and fishing trips at Candlelight Cottages in Bolton Landing. He was known as Captain Roy of the Mothership pontoon, treating friends and their children to fishing excursions.
Above all, Roy cherished his family, lasting friendships, and the beautiful home he built for his family.
We would like to thank family and friends for all of their love and support during Roy’s illness. And a special thank you to the nurses and aides from Beacon Hospice for their support and compassionate care.
A Funeral Home Service will be held on Saturday, September 12th, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. in Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA 01085. Visiting hours will precede the service from 9-11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
