In Loving Memory
Barbara E. Laffert
January 5, 1944 – October 18, 2026

BLANDFORD – Barbara E. Laffert passed away on October 18th, 2026, at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion for her family, her community, and the natural world.
Raised in Springfield and Agawam, Massachusetts, Barbara was the daughter of Robert E. Wiles and Yolanda Wiles (Uras). She graduated from Agawam High School and continued her education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Elms College in Chicopee, earning a Bachelor of Science in Religion and a master’s degree in theology.
Barbara married Ernest A. Laffert (Scrapper) on October 2nd, 1965. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage, and a life centered on family and love.
A devoted caregiver and advocate for those in need, Barbara generously volunteered at her local library, helped with voting, and served her church and CCD. She was an avid reader, puzzle enthusiast, baker of brownies, and enthusiastic walker who found joy in life’s simple pleasures.
Barbara had a special love for birds and wildlife, especially chickadees, and was a dedicated supporter of the Audubon Society. She never stopped feeding birds and other animals and took pride in her self-appointed litter patrol at Beech Hill. The Cape Cod National Seashore held a special place in her heart, as did her beloved cat, Boots.
Above all, Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her quiet strength, and the comfort of knowing that no matter the hour or the circumstances, she was always there. She was a steady source of love, understanding, and support. Her kindness and generous spirit touched many lives, and the love she gave will remain with her family always.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Jeff Wiles, and his wife, Kathy; Erich Laffert and his wife, Huong Kate Laffert; Brett Laffert; Scott Laffert and his wife, Vanessa; Kate Forgue and her husband, Jason; and Jason Laffert and his wife, Morgan.
She was a loving grandmother to Eli and Zoe, children of Scott Laffert; Brian, Sean, Evan, and Adam, sons of Kate Forgue; and Shea and Max, children of Jason Laffert. Her family was a cherished part of her life, and her memory will live on through the generations.
Barbara was predeceased by her brother, Brian (Jack) Wiles.
Barbara will be deeply missed, but her love, compassion, and devotion will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world she loved so dearly.
