The Westfield News just received word from the City of Westfield and the office of Congressman John Olver that CSX and MADOT executed an agreement that will allow work to proceed on the Pochassic Street Bridge.
This is in regards to the supposed ethical issues going on in Southwick. Why are we paying for a high-priced attorney from Worcester to protect the rights and interest of the Chief Administrator Karl Steinhart? How many attorneys in the past has Southwick hired from Worcester? I believer since 1770 the answer is none. Why not Springfield? How much does he charge on an hourly basis and how much has he cost us to date? I have been told unofficially his hourly rate is over $300 per hour! If the Selectman tells Karl to do something that is illegal or ethically not right then he has the Attorney General’s office or the Ethics Commission to protect him. It seems to me that the person we voted to start cleaning up Southwick started doing her job and now is having her hands tied and at the cost to the taxpayer. And on top of that she is not getting paid for her selectman job and having to hire her own attorney so she can continue to govern.
