GRANVILLE – Nancy Clare (Woodger) Wackerbarth, 93, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and aunt passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on November 27, 2012. Born in Westbury, Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Annie (Keast) Woodger Sr.
She graduated from high school in Westbury, Long Island and went on to further her education graduating from business school in NY. After graduation she worked as an administrative assistant for the West Hartford School System until she was married in 1943. She then worked for the Granville Village School for 13 years. She was a member of the Granville Federated Church, Granville Federated Church Ladies Aid, a lifetime member of the Granville Library Club and a member of the Granville Historical Commission.
Nancy leaves her 4 children; Nancy Petersen and her husband, Gary of Granville, Susan Snelgrove of Clinton, CT, James Wackerbarth of Granville and Stephen Wackerbarth and his wife, Valerie of West Springfield; her son-in-law, Daniel Rose of Ransonville, NY; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law; Jean Hadidian of San Jose, CA and Phyllis Woodger of Granville; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Frederic “Ted” Wackerbarth who passed in 1988, her daughter, Bette Jean Rose who passed in 2007, her two brothers, Walter Woodger, Jr. and George E. Woodger. Nancy’s family is comforted knowing that she is now with her loving and faithful friend and cousin, Norma Woodger who passed 11 hours before she did. Special thanks go out to Lisa, Brianna and Peter of Noble Hospital Hospice for their loving care.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home and a memorial service for Nancy will be held in the spring.
