Erica Lefebvre Named to the Gettysburg College Dean’s Honor List
GETTYSBURG, PA – Erica Lefebvre, of Granville, has been placed on the Gettysburg College Dean’s Honor list for outstanding academic achievement in the Fall 2012 semester. Students with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for a semester’s work are placed on the College’s Dean’s Honor List.
Tolland Resident Lindsay Platt Makes Goodwin College President’s List
EAST HARTFORD, CONN. – Goodwin College is pleased to announce that Lindsay Platt, a resident of Tolland, has qualified for the Fall 2012 President’s List, achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA for the session. Platt is one of 239 students who has made the list, the highest academic honor awarded by Goodwin. Mark Scheinberg, Goodwin College President, said, “Many of these students did not come to college by an easy path. They’ve worked very hard for every grade, and to achieve perfect 4.0 GPAs is a testament to their hard work. Our students inspire us every day and I am delighted to congratulate them on qualifying for the President’s list.” To achieve President’s List status students must maintain straight A’s and a 4.0 GPA and must be registered for at least six credits. Of the 3,317 students registered only 7 percent earned a spot on the President’s List.
Sarah Cornelius Graduates from RIT
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sarah Cornelius of Westfield, Mass., graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with an Associate in Applied Science degree in arts and imaging studies from RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf in the fall 2012 quarter.
Westfield resident Brittany Stefano is named to Dean’s List
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – Brittany Stefano, daughter of Brian and Jennie Stefano of Westfield, received academic honors at Boston College by making the University’s Dean’s List for the Fallsemester 2012 earning First Honors. A freshman at Boston College, Stefano is majoring in Accounting in the University’s Carroll School of Management. The Dean’s List recognizes the achievement of undergraduates semester by semester. For the classes of 2011, 2012, and 2013 the Dean’s List classifies students into three groups according to semester averages: First Honors (3.700-4.000); Second Honors (3.500-3.699); and Third Honors (3.300-3.499). In order to be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must earn at least 12 or more credits in courses evaluated with a letter grade, excluding the P (pass) grade, and receive a passing grade in all courses.

Goodwin College Announces Fall 2012 Dean’s List
EAST HARTFORD, CONN. – Goodwin College has announced that 757 students have achieved GPAs of 3.5 or above and earned spots on the prestigous Dean’s List for the Fall 2012 session. Connor Sheehan Named To Dean’s List At Loyola University Maryland
BALTIMORE, MD – Connor Sheehan, a member of the class of 2016 from Westfield, has been named to the fall 2012 Dean’s List at Loyola University Maryland. In order to qualify for the Dean’s List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits.
Local Residents Named to UMass Lowell Dean’s List
LOWELL, MASS. – Local residents were recently recognized for achieving academic distinction during the University of Massachusetts Lowell’s Fall 2012 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must have completed at least 12 graded credits for the semester, have at least a 3.25 grade point average with no grade lower than C and may not have any incompletes. Local Hamilton College Student to Perform in Italy with College Choir
CLINITON, N.Y. — Kerri E. Grimaldi, daughter of Richard and Nancy Grimaldi of Westfield, will perform with the Hamilton College Choir and College Hill singers on their spring break tour of Italy in March. This marks the choir’s seventh European concert tour in 28 years. The 73-member choir, under the direction of G. Roberts Kolb, professor of music and director of choral music at Hamilton, will perform in Ferentino on March 19, Perugia on March 21 and Florence on March 22. The Hamilton choir will perform in a joint concert in Chiese Collegiata with the San Jacopo Chorale, S. Maria a Monte on March 23, and participate in masses on March 24 in Basilica Santo Spirito in Florence and March 25 at Basilica San Marco, Venice. In recent years the choir has toured the Midwest, East and South during spring recess. Grimaldi, a sophomore, is a graduate of Westfield High School. Hamilton College is a highly selective residential college offering a rigorous liberal arts curriculum. Students are challenged to think, write and speak critically, creatively and analytically, so that upon graduation they may distinguish themselves in both their professions and their communities.
Westfield resident inducted into honor society
SALEM, MASS.—Colleen Sullivan, a resident of Westfield, Mass.,was inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society at Salem State University Friday, Feb. 22. Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society for first year students. Its mission is to “encourage superior academic achievement to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society.” On campus, Alpha Lambda Delta is involved in community service and leadership development training. It also provides opportunities for students to apply for scholarships. Induction into the honor society requires that students achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher and reside within the top 20 percent of their class during their first semester at Salem State University. Of the 641 eligible students, 146 were inducted in February.
