I see where Ward 2 now has representation. However, I cannot seem to contact our new ward councilor. Mr. Winters is not listed in the phone book. How can a councilor represent us if we the people cannot contact them with our ward issues?
Based upon the article on April 24, 2013 it appears “The People’s Republic of Southwick” has learned nothing from the recent incident in South Hadley. In that incident the school department used police to suppress freedom of expression. It wound up costing the town of South Hadley tens of thousands of dollars. According to the article on the 24th, the school will have police present to assist with confiscation of noise makers. One could assume the police will be using a disorderly conduct statute to address the noise makers. The short definition of disorderly conduct is, “Violent or tumultuous behavior that serves no useful purpose and places the members of the public in fear, annoyance and/or alarm”. The picture in the paper of the graduate with the horn hardly meets the disorderly statute. The other students in the pictures don’t look very alarmed, annoyed or in fear. I doubt the spectators were either. Coming from the school district that tried to impose “mandatory” community service, I am not surprised by this line of thinking. But then again the mandatory community service did not work out so well for the school district. See you at graduation (with my horn).

I see in Saturday’s paper that the Granville police have an academy for citizens. Isn’t that a joke? What are they going to do, stop a cow for crossing the street? What crime is there in Granville? What a joke! More money wasted, you know? Jose Rivera, the chief, he’s a joke. The whole Granville Police Department is a joke. It’s not a police department. It’s more like a club, you know? It’s more like a club. What a joke!
Hi! This is the mom of the girl that was collecting metal for her fifth-grade trip. I just wanted to let you know that I am really sorry but I could not find my cell phone for a couple days. It was lost in the back of our Suburban and dead, so I wasn’t able to get any of my messages and I was unaware that one of my lady friends had put it in the paper until she had informed me when I saw her a couple of days ago. Yes, hello PulseLine. I’m just calling, I was kind of surprised to see, it seemed like such little coverage of the Westfield River Races, held up in Huntington on April 20. It’s always a well-attended event and this was the 60th year anniversary of the race. I’m sure it brings some kind of financial stimulus to the local economy. And it’s a story with a nice, positive spin on it. Perhaps just a few pictures or a few stories of local racers might have been nice to see in the Westfield News. Thank you very much. Bye.
