BLANDFORD – John E. Chaffee, 75, of Blandford died suddenly on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Noble Hospital. John had fought a courageous battle for thirty-three years with diabetes overcoming many disabling complications and never loosing focus of the true meaning of his life, his beloved family. John was born on January 14th 1938 in Mt. Kisco NY, beloved son of the late George and Doris (Laramy) Chaffee.
He worked for nearly thirty years for Texon Corp in Holyoke as a supervisor. John was a man who relished the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and snowmobiling with his family. He was a son, brother, friend, dad, and Granddad as well as a mentor and loving support to his family.
John is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Parmenter) Chaffee and two sons, Jim Chaffee of Blandford and his wife Susan; two grandsons, David & wife Stephanie, and Ryan; Todd Chaffee of Southwick and four grandsons, Christopher, Dylan, Joshua and Jack. His much loved sister, Rosemary Costa of Chicopee and brother in law, Joseph. Two special great granddaughters, Morgan and Layla Chaffee; three nephews, Jeffery Beauregard of Westfield, Chuck Beauregard of Weston MO. He was predeceased by his nephew, Glenn Beauregard.
The funeral for John will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
