WESTFIELD – Allen J. Witek, 67, of Westfield died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at home. He was born in Westfield on September 17, 1945 to Alexander and Antoinette (Lakoma) Witek.
He was a graduate of Westfield High School and the former Northampton Commercial College. Allen was employed as an accountant for Marmac Distributors for thirty years and prior to that he worked for Popular Markets. Allen also worked at the Eastern States Exhibition setting up for horse shows and was also a notary public. He enjoyed Nascar racing, hockey, gardening, bird watching and fishing. Allen had a great love of local history, Polish music and Polish food. He was a kind, gentle and hard working person. He faithfully watched over his elderly neighbors, they called him “the angel of Exchange Street”. Allen leaves a brother, Kenneth Witek of Westfield; two sisters, Sandra Witek-Eames of Washington, DC and Annette Durbin of Lowell and their spouses. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and four great nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:00-10:00 a.m.
