Another great example of the town of Westfield and Small Business in this town… Now it is Ron Cappa and the ole Romani Bowling Alley..Here he puts 2 years of his time and a whole lot of money to renovate the building to be open in time for the September League season… Now you get Jeff Daley and his Urban Renewal Project that’s coming in to buy the Building (cause the Romani’s own the building) and Cappa leases the inside to Turn it into a Parking Garage!! Are you Kidding Me !! What the Hell do you think Ron Cappa did to the building ..It is Called Renovations where you call it Urban Renewal…And what about being a Historical building …Enough is Enough. Why Not Just let This Small Business / Tax Payer alone and give him a chance to make a living and give the people something to do other than going to bars or out eat in this town..At least this will give some a choice to do something here in Westfield… It is the small business that is the back bone ..It is not always about the Big Business. Do you remember back in the days when that bowling alley was open..Every night the lanes were packed with league bowling..And on the weekends the Tournaments and the T.V roll offs…Do you know or remember some of the Names that came out of that Bowling alley as Top Bowlers and were on T.V. Charlie Jutras–Art Pappas–Paul Burt–Dave Romani—Jeff Atkins–Dick Smus—Jimmy Orlandi–just to name a few….. Do not turn that place of many Memories into a Parking Garage !! I Hope That many reading this will write or call to save this bowling from becoming a Parking Garage !! Just one persons Opinion——A Quarter loaf of bread is better than no bread at all !!
Who regulates the safety of parking lot conditions? Yesterday I traveled from Little River Plaza to the Westfield shops and couldn’t believe the condition of the parking lot at the new Verizon store. Wouldn’t it be prudent for Verizon to have the parking lot fixed, rather than take a chance at having their insurance company pay out thousands of dollars in car repairs? I would consider this a willful disregard for public safety.
Good morning! A few months ago in your newspaper there was an article concerning spending $600-700,000 for additional barrels to collect our waste and our recycling items. I have heard nothing since then. That is a lot of money. I am just wondering if some of that money can be diverted into paving our streets. That’s a priority, not that second barrel. If that’s not good enough to repair our streets, that $600-700,000 can be updated to accommodate the supposedly 150 tons of garbage that they’re trying to establish with the state. If you can come up with the answer: are we going to spend that money for the extra barrel? Thank you very much. The city is presently reviewing a grant opportunity that would fund the barrels.
