SOUTHWICK – Roderick H. “Rod” Fletcher, 99, lifelong resident of Southwick, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Governor’s Center, Westfield. Born in Southwick, Roderick was the son of the late Raymond and Ethel (Wilcutt) Fletcher.
Roderick was the owner of Fletcher Gas & Electric Co. for many years, and was a decorated Army Combat veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Southwick American Legion #38, Southwick VFW Post 872, and a charter member of the Southwick Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Virginia Ferrier; two sons, Alan Fletcher and Mark Fletcher and his wife Denise, all of Southwick, MA, and a brother, Donald Fletcher of Tucson, AZ, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond “Bud” and William Fletcher.
Funeral services with burial in New Cemetery are private. Family and friends may gather at the Southwick-Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick, MA on Wednesday, October 9th from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
