SOUTHWICK – Kenneth W. “Kenny” Strong, 63, a lifelong resident of this town, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on Monday, October 7, 2013. Born in Westfield, MA Kenny was the son of the late Charles H. and Ada M. (Sargent) Strong, and was a graduate of Southwick High School.Kenny was a well-known welder in the Southwick area for many years, and was the owner and operator of Strong’s Welding. He was a member of the Southwick Rotary Club, and the Southwick Planning Board. Kenny had also served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He had a special passion for drag racing and one of his joys in life was his ’64 Chevy Nova and spending his Sunday’s racing at Lebanon Valley.
He is survived by his wife, Christine (Kosiorek) Strong; two sons, Ben Strong of Southwick, MA, and Jonathan Safford of Killington, VT; three brothers, Robert Strong of Raleigh-Durham, NC, Charles Strong of Aurora, IL, and David Strong of Huntington, MA; a sister, Gladys Freniere of West Springfield, MA, and a granddaughter, Natalie Strong.
Funeral services for Kenny will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 10:00 a.m. at the Southwick-Forastiere Funeral Home, 684 College Highway, Southwick, MA. Burial will follow in New Cemetery, Southwick. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, October 11th from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
