Joseph M. George, 33, of 19 Athol St., Springfield, pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking and entering a building in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony brought by Westfield police and was sentenced by Judge Charles Groce to a two and a half year term (with credit for time served awaiting trial since March 29, 2013) in the house of correction to be served concurrently with a sentence imposed by another court. George also pleaded guilty to a charge of larceny of property valued more than $250 (also brought by Westfield police) and was sentenced to a concurrent two year term.
Arson R. Bills, 34, of 17 River Front St., Chester, saw a charge of assault and battery brought by State Police dismissed when the alleged victim asserted her marital privilege and refused to testify.
In a bench trial, Judge Charles Groce found Derek W. Webb, 21, of 44 Mechanic St., to be not guilty of a charge of assault and battery brought by Westfield police.
