WESTFIELD – Margaret “Peg” (Crean) Fitzgerald, 93, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at home. Born and raised in Holyoke, she was a resident of Westfield since 1947.
Peg was a retired longtime teacher for the City of Westfield Public School System. She was a graduate of Westfield State College. Peg was also a communicant of St Mary’s Church, a member of it’s confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary and a member of the Sons of Erin Women’s Auxiliary, all in Westfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. in 1999. She leaves her daughter, Lynn Viles with whom she lived; 2 grandsons, Christopher Viles and Timothy Viles and his wife Amanda (Curran), all of Westfield; two sisters, Anne Crean and Geraldine Walsh, both of Holyoke; 2 sisters-in-law, Grace Fay of Philadelphia, PA and Florence Fitzgerald of Westfield, three great-grandchildren, Rowan, Malia, and Cian Viles.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, November13th 9:30 a.m. from the Robert E Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main Street (Route 20), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, all in Westfield. Visiting hours are Tuesday 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
