AGAWAM – Ellen M. (Gamache) Cornelius, 86, of Agawam and formerly of Westfield, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. She was born in Westfield on September 21, 1927 the daughter of the late Henry and Vera Gamache.Ellen was a graduate of St. Mary’s School in Westfield. She worked for Old Colony Envelope Company in Westfield and later worked for the Westfield school lunch program, but Ellen took most pride in raising her children and caring for her family. Ellen was an avid Bingo player and loved spending time with family and friends most especially during the holiday season.
In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernest Cornelius in 2011; two brothers, Charles and William Gamache and a sister, Beverly Storey. Ellen is survived by her two devoted children, Elizabeth Taylor and her husband Stephen of Southwick, Mark Cornelius and his wife Michele of Feeding Hills; a sister, Theresa Garcia of Westfield and a brother, John Gamache of Westfield. She is also survived by three adored grandchildren, Kayla and her boyfriend Henry, Andrea and her boyfriend Jesse and Robert and his wife Jennifer and she leaves two cherished great-grandchildren, Leah and Ava.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, November 22, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001 followed by a Funeral Home Service at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
