WESTFIELD – On Thursday the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield held its 22nd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Club members and their families. The Club served turkey, potatoes, carrots, stuffing, cranberry sauce and bread. The Club served over 500 dinners.
Ray’s Family Farm of Westfield donated all of the potatoes and carrots. The 104th fighter wing at Barnes prepared and cooked all 24 turkeys, the stuffing and the gravy. The South Middle School prepared all of the potatoes. The Noodlers’ and Board members served the Club members and their family’s dinner.
“The Noodlers, our adult and senior members, have helped serve turkey and all the fixins for our youth members and their families since 2004. An in house team, with the invaluable leadership of Christine Osella ensures that this event has become a great tradition for club families.” said Lerryn Godden, one of the organizers of the dinner.
The Torch Club youth character and leadership program also accepted donations for nonperishable items. These items were collected and distributed to at least forty families in a package that included: A turkey, gravy mix, potatoes, dessert, vegetables, stuffing and cranberry sauce.
The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield ensures all children, no matter what obstacles they face, are given the tools and encouragement they need to realize and build their dreams into reality.
