WESTFIELD – John R. Halloran, 81, of Westfield died Thursday February 13, 2014 at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke. He was born in Westfield on July 21, 1932 to James and Alice (Kirwin) Halloran. John was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and a US Korean War Naval Veteran.
He was employed as a Postal Clerk for the US Postal Service for thirty-five years retiring in 1990. John was a communicant of St. Peters and St. Casimirs Parish and a member of the Sons of Erin and American Legion Post 124 both of Westfield.
He leaves his wife of fifty years, Jeanette (Liptak) Halloran and a son, John P. Halloran and his wife Caitlin Roberts of Cambridge; a daughter, Christine Halloran of Long Island, NY and a granddaughter Niamh of Cambridge. John also leaves a brother, William Halloran of West Springfield and two sisters, Jane Halloran of California and Kathleen Chenette of Orange Park, FL. He was predeceased by a brother, James K. Halloran.
The funeral will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Peters Church at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
