Saints battle Taconic, penalties
Taconic 8, St. Mary 4
Brandan Peaslee scored four goals, two of which came in the first period as Taconic skated out to a commanding 4-0 lead.
Shaun Gezotis netted St. Mary’s first goal in the second period. Ashton Bourbonnais notched a goal in each of the second and third periods, and Jonathan Spear also tallied a score for the Saints.
“I was proud we stayed in the game,” St. Mary first-year head coach Goodreau said. “We kept our intensity during the entire game. We showed a lot of fight coming back after the first period.”
“We will need to work on controlling our physical play and find a way to stay out of the penalty box,” he said, noting his team’s penalties (8) to Taconic’s (2). “It is hard to win when you are playing down so many times.”
