WESTFIELD – Abner Gibbs Elementary School’s new principal Stacy Burgess held a Meet and Greet at the school on Monday afternoon, to give parents and students the chance to speak to her before school starts on Thursday.
Burgess, who lives in Ludlow, began Monday, August 22 in her new position. She has previously served as principal in the Southern Berkshire Regional School District, and as an assistant principal in Southbridge and Monson, where she also taught elementary school.
She is excited about coming to Westfield.
“The energy here is infectious, there is a sense of excitement and enthusiasm for the work being done for the kids,” Burgess said. She said she first learned of Westfield at a workshop she attended in another district, and was really impressed with the work Westfield’s been doing, especially in curriculum and standards, and in their approach to helping teachers become better in their craft.
“I think the district as a whole is really unified,” Burgess said. “I’m honored and thrilled to be here, and be part of the Abner Gibbs family.”
