WESTFIELD – Adele J. (Lemanski) Filipiak, 94, went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2013. She was born on October 7, 1918, the daughter of Alexander and Mary (Gietek) Lemanski.
She spent most of her life as a resident of Westfield, working during WWII at the Springfield Armory. She later worked at Dewey’s Drug Store in Westfield where she met and later married her husband of 61 years, Tadeusz Filipiak.
Besides her husband, she leaves to cherish her memories; her sons, James Hyder and his life companion Patricia of Wilbraham, Ted Filipiak and his wife Susan of Southwick; and her daughter, Mary Stefano and her husband Robert of Westfield. She leaves two grandchildren, James of New Mexico and Merideth of Westfield, and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, John, Peter, William and Paul along with sisters Helena and Sophie.
A memorial celebration of Adele’s life will be held for the family on Saturday, July 20 at 10:00 a.m. at the Westfield Evangelical Free Church. The family would like to thank the Staff at Wingate of Springfield and Beacon Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion to both Adele and her family during her journey’s end.
