STAFFORD SPRINGS – Sin City rawkers Adelitas Way made their way to the Palace Theater in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, on Tuesday night as part of the 2015 Sno-core tour. This annual tour generally has between four and five bands on the bill and hence the name since it usually makes it way around the country during the winter months. 2015’s tour includes Fit For Rivals, Framing Hanley, Adelitas Way and Flyleaf.
Opening the show was Jacksonville’s Fit For Rivals. FFR played a 25-minute set consisting mostly of songs off their 2009 release Steady Damage. Led by lead singer Renee Phoenix, this is a high energy band with some great songs under their belt. The band ended the night with the crunchy yet catchy Hit Me. Currently working on their follow up to be released in 2015, this is young band to keep an eye/ear on in the very near future.
Framing Hanley was up next and seemed to have a good portion of the crowd there specifically for them. Touring in support of their 2014 release The Sum of Who We Are, the band played a tight 30-minute set that also included a very cool cover song. Together in some way shape or form since 2005 and with three full length releases under their belt, Framing Hanley would be considered veterans of the music scene. Kicking off their set with Hear Me Now, the band ripped through their set that included songs from all three of their releases. These guys are getting some good airplay on satellite radio with their single Criminal and are working on some new material. Great set, would have like to hear more, but I would say the highlight of their set was a cover of Lil’ Wayne’s Lollipop. Check these guys out some time.
All the way from Las Vegas, Adelitas Way opened their show with the song Hear Me Now. Lead singer Rick DeJesus quickly made mention of the current weather conditions and lamented, “where we are from, if it hits 69 degrees, we stay inside”. Well Rick, we won’t feel that temperature for another three or four months. Back to the show… Dog on a Leash came next – what I consider their best song. Dog is off their 2014 release Stuck, which was also the first single released and reached the top ten at Active rock radio.
Singer DeJesus went on to explain what the band is up to and announced they are working on a Pledge Music Campaign to support the release of a new EP slated to come out in March. This explanation prompted the band to play a new song, Filthy Heart, which will be on the EP.
Going back to their 2011 release, Home School Valedictorian, the band ripped through the song Alive and showed off some great guitar work from Robert Zakaryan. Deserve This, another new one from the forthcoming EP, shows that these guys are writing some great songs and seem poised for bigger things.
The rest of the set included Criticize, Sick and Invincible before Adelitas Way had to say good night. This was an enjoyable set from a band that not only has the EP coming out in March but is also looking to have another full length release completed at some point this year. Lots of good things coming your soon from rawkers Adelitas Way!
