WESTFIELD: Aldo Livio Orlandi, 96, passed peacefully Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Westfield on July 25, 1918 to the late Santino and Rina (Vaninetti) Orlandi. He was a lifelong resident, attended local schools, was a graduate of Westfield High School and a proud member of the Westfield High School Baseball Team. Aldo was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II serving with the 165th Combat Engineers. He was a salesman for General Baking Co. Bond Bread for 20 years. He also worked for W.H. Fenton Co. in Westfield, as a salesman, for 25 years and retired in 1983. He was a lifetime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Arch Bishop Williams Westfield Council. He was past president of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Italian Fraternal Club. Aldo enjoyed golfing, baseball and fishing. He leaves his wife Eleanor M. (LaFreniere) Orlandi, whom he fell in love with 79 years ago and recently celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary. He leaves, his son Aldo F. Orlandi and his wife Karen of Westfield, his daughter Karen O. Hatch of Westfield, his sister Mary Hosmer of Concord, NH, his grandchildren Amy Malinowski and her husband Christopher, of Westfield, Christopher Orlandi and his wife Alanna of Ellington, CT, Gerri Lynn Hatch of Simsbury, CT and Jaime Avery and her husband Matthew of Southwick, MA. One of Aldo’s greatest joys was spending time with his great-grandchildren Nicolas, Keith, Michael, Nolan, Andrew, Reese and Anthony. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Joseph, Attillio “Cope”, Peter and Charles and sister Rita Webster. The funeral for Aldo will be held Saturday July 18th at 9:30 am from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Mary’s Church. Burial with military honors will be Monday July 20th at 11 AM in the Mass Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling hours will be held on Friday July 17th from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
