American Legion Post 124 Awards American Legion School Awards

WESTFIELD – Saint Mary’s high school awards night was held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Saint Mary’s high school gymnasium.  Numerous awards and scholarships were awarded.

Post 124 awarded the American Legion School Award to Danielle Bovat and Kevin Rockwal.  The award is in recognition of the possession of those high qualities of Courage, Honor, Leadership, Patriotism, Scholarship and Service.

Danielle Bovat, the class President for the last three years is an alumnus of the 2017 American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program performed 511 hours of community service in high school career and graduated with a 4.19 G.P.A. and is the class of 2018 Valedictorian.  Danielle will be attending the Franciscan University of Steubenville in September.  Post 124 Past Commander Theroux announced that Danielle Bovat was selected as recipient of the 2018 American Legion Department of Massachusetts Joe Stein Americanism award.

Kevin Rockwal is an alumni of the 2017 American Legion Boys State program and a three-sport varsity athlete in his high school career.  Kevin is the class of 2018 Salutatorian and provided the Salutatory Address to the class of 2018.  Kevin will be attending Providence College in September.  Kevin’s dad Michael attended Boys State sponsored by Post 124 when he was a junior in high school.
