Anne E. MacKay

MacKayAnneWESTFIELD – Anne E. (McDonough) MacKay of Westfield passed away peacefully on June 5, 2013. She was born in Springfield on January 16, 1922, daughter of the late Henry T. and Rose E. (Moore) McDonough.
Anne graduated from Classical High School in Springfield in 1940 and Westfield State College in 1944. On June 29, 1946, she married John, the love of her life and they settled in Westfield. She taught Kindergarten in the Westfield School System for twenty-two years retiring in 1983. Anne was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Westfield and was a member of its Rosary Society. She was a member of the Westfield Women’s Club, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Anne was also very passionate about the arts and served as a member of the West Fest committee for years. Anne loved to travel to the crystal coast of North Carolina, Virginia and among her favorites trips were to the Rhine area, Italy, France and Ireland. Anne also shared her love for golf with many friends and family at the Blandford Club. In 1997 Anne was selected as Grandmother’s Garden’s Grandmother of the Year. She was a wonderful role model and a lady in every sense of the word. We will miss her.
She leaves her husband of sixty-six years, John J. MacKay and five daughters, Jane MacKay-Wright of Longmeadow, Susan M. Regensburger and her husband Michael, Ellen M. McEwan and her husband Philip all of Westfield, Betsy M. Crupi and her husband Robert of Scituate and Joanne M. Dibella and her husband Michael of Sutton. Anne also leaves eleven grandchildren; Emily, Maura, Brian, Kathleen, Brigid, Courtney, Matthew, Rachel, Nicholas, Jennings and Robert; three great-grandchildren, William, Walker and Anne. She was predeceased by four brothers, John, William, Henry and James McDonough; a sister, Rosemary M. Riordan; a grandson, Christopher J. Regensburger and a son-in-law Wilfred Wright.
The funeral will be Monday, June 10, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from
2:00-5:00 p.m.
