SOUTHAMPTON – Annette (Guerin) Golas, 70, of Southampton died Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Linda Manor Care Facility, Northampton. She was born in Westfield February 15, 1942 the daughter of the late Raymond R. Sr. and Helen Wemette Guerin.
Annette attended Westfield Schools and graduated from St. Mary’s High School Class of 1959. After leaving Westfield, she became a nun in the order of St. Joseph SSJ in North Brookfield. Sister Helene Raymond practiced her faith for 17 years as a teacher. She later became a teacher and guidance counselor in Westfield Public School retiring in 1992.
In 1984, Annette became the wife of Richard S. Golas, who passed away in 2005. She enjoyed her travels with Richard in Europe and winters in Florida. She possessed a great nature, made stenciled pillow cases and other items for newborns, read and did word puzzles. Annette missed her cat Gigi and her outreach to wild life.
She is survived by three brothers, Raymond R. Guerin, Jr. of Gardner, Thomas Guerin of Texas, Christopher Guerin of Kansas; and one sister, Barbara Russell of Florida; three stepsons, Steven R. Golas of West Springfield, Jeffery M. Golas of Peru, Robert S. Golas of Russell and one stepdaughter, Caroline M. Valentino of West Springfield; seven step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Annette’s life will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton. Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 9.30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
