WESTFIELD – Antonina Rovetto, 91, died peacefully at home on September 27th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Nina was born in Palermo, Italy, the daughter of the late Umberto and Angela (Bellone) Ginestra and lived in Westfield since 1966.
She was best known for her authentic Italian cooking and her fine baked goods. Nina was also an accomplished seamstress, from simple alterations to crafting custom-made dresses, including wedding and bridesmaid dresses, her precision and attention to detail were unmatched. She enjoyed spending summers in Sicily, hosting her large, extended family and friends, and she was also an avid perennial flower gardener. Most of all, Nina will be forever remembered for her warmth, selflessness, and devotion to family.
Nina is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Matteo, and her three children: Eddie and his wife Sabrina of Alexandria, Virginia, Umberto of Westfield, and Gianna Smith and her husband Chris of Schenectady, NY. Additionally, she leaves behind a brother, Gioacchino Ginestra, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to especially thank Carolyn Lemelin for her love, support, and dedication to Nina’s wellness the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nina’s name to the BrightFocus Foundation for macular degeneration research.
