Two independent narcotics investigations came to fruition early Saturday morning when city detectives executed a pair of warrants and arrested two suspected drug dealers.
Det. Sgt. Ray Manos reported Saturday morning that a team of detectives assembled earlier that morning and went first to a Fowler Street address to serve a warrant which had been granted after an investigation by narcotics officers which included controlled purchases of narcotics.
The detectives served the first warrant and found a white powder which tested positive for heroin, green leafy material which tested positive for marijuana and a variety of prescription pills in the possession of Anthony Charles Peterson, 32, of 9 Fowler Street.
He was arrested for possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute (a subsequent offense), possession of a Class B drug with intent to distribute (a subsequent offense), possession of a Class C drug with intent to distribute and possession of a Class E drug with intent to distribute.
Two adult women at the residence were not charged.
Peterson was released on $1,000 cash bail Sunday and is expected to be arraigned today in Westfield District Court.
Manos said that the detectives next went to a Clinton Avenue address and again served a warrant without incident.
At that location a variety of prescription pills and drug paraphernalia were found.
William A. Sampsel, 46, of 23 Clinton Ave., was arrested for possession of a Class B drug with intent to distribute and for possession of a Class E drug with intent to distribute.
At that location, an adult male and an adult female party were present but not charged.
Bail for Sampsel was set at $500 but he did not post bail and was held pending arraignment in Westfield District Court today.
