Happy Birthday Ally Morin!

It was a sweet afternoon for Westfield’s Allyson Morin. The Bombers’ sensational sophomore celebrated her 16th birthday in grand style with a pair of first-place finishes in a high school track and field tri-meet yesterday at Northampton.
Morin won the mile (5:24.39) and 2-mile (12:33.83), edging out teammate Sierra Swords (second place) both times.
Southwick’s Mariah Collins also had an enjoyable afternoon, proving to be the ultimate triple-threat. Collins captured the shot put (32-09), discus (97-11), and 100 meter dash (14.05). Alexis Peterson won the javelin (96-04).
Northampton won the meet with 95 points to stay unbeaten at 6-0. Westfield (49 points) and Southwick-Tolland (37) finished second and third, respectively.
The Bombers are now 2-1. The Rams fell to 1-4.
Westfield racked up a smattering of seconds from Alex Lehman (long jump, 14-07), Jaymie White (high jump, 4-10), Jenna Rothermel (discus, 87-10), Bridget Hartnett (1:13.40), Amy Wardner (800 meters, 2:41.42), and Emilia Lund, Wardner, White, and Hartnett in the 4×400 meter relay (4:42.74).
Alexis Peterson was one of three runners-up for Southwick. Peterson placed second in the triple jump (31-01 ½) and 100 meter hurdles (17.18). Mikaela Martell took silver in the javelin (82-0) and the 4×100 relay team (Collins, Morgan Wundt, Peterson, Izzy Burns) finished in 54.25, good for second as well.
