The Girl Scouts of Connecticut are seeking volunteers to help prepare Camp Timber Trails in Tolland for the season.
Volunteers are needed for a day of service tomorrow, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The camp, which is owned by the Girl Scouts of Connecticut since 1958, is used year-round.
Tiffany Ventura of Girl Scouts of Connecticut said volunteers should email Valorie Rykowski at [email protected] “so we are prepared for them.”
Volunteers will be doing a variety of tasks including moving beds and mattresses to cabins, light cleaning, painting, trail work and mulching paths, clearing small forest debris (small branches), No supplies are required.
“We recommend sturdy shoes, work clothes appropriate for the weather, and bring along a pair of work gloves,” said Ventura.
Ventura said Camp Timer Trails is an active camp.
“The camp is used by Girl Scouts year-round with troops or special events using the facility practically every weekend of the year,” she said. “During the summer we offer summer resident camp (overnight sleep-away camp) for girls in entering grades 2-12 next fall. The camp is open to all girls, including non-Girl Scouts, and financial assistance is available.”
Camp offerings include horseback riding, archery, boating, low ropes course, arts and crafts, theater, leadership programs and more.
“Add the general programming of swimming, hiking, campfires, all-camp games, cookouts, nature study, songs, science, healthy living and there is something for every girl. Trained staff work with girls and girls help choose the programming they will do at camp,” Ventura said.
Ventura said the summer resident camp season begins July 1 and runs through August 11.

Volunteers should arrive at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and donuts. Service teams will be organized with the projects beginning at 9:00 a.m., continuing until 4:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
