SOUTHWICK – The Southwick Public Library has a full schedule of events in April, with programs for adults and children, including a celebration of National Library Week April 12-18.
Do you have a favorite picture book or chapter book? Visit Southwick Public Library during National Library Week, April 12-18, to let them know. Favorite book titles or drawings of the book on a book-shape for library decoration that week. If you do not have a favorite, just write down the title you are reading now.
Children can participate in a scavenger hunt and find the book tags hidden in the Children’s Room also during National Library Week..
The library’s Tuesday Storytime for children ages 2-5 years old will meet in the Children’s Room on April 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 10:30 a.m. Children can learn about magnets, sing a new song, read a fun story, and make a craft. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Please register in the Children’s Room or call 413-569-1221 ext. 4 to join the fun.
Children and their parents/caregivers are invited to come to the Children’s Room on Saturday, April 11 at 11 a.m. for Splish! Splash! Saturday Storytime to enjoy stories about animals that live in or near the water. Stories include animals that call the river their home, 10 little fish that swim out to sea and all the animals that come out in the nighttime sea. Afterward there will be a craft to take home. Registration for this program is not necessary.
During school vacation there will be an Open-Ended Art day.. A variety of craft materials will be available at Southwick Public Library on April 23 for kids to make a craft of their own to take home. You may decorate it with feathers, shapes, stickers, markers and glue to make a one of a kind work of art.

Adults can participate in the “Hidden Gems of New England” program on Wednesday, April 15 at 7 p.m.
Co-author Alison O’Leary will offer a slide presentation and talk “Hidden Gems of New England,” ased on the new book Inns and Adventures, by Alison O’Leary and Michael J. Tougias,
“Hidden Gems of New England” takes the audience on virtual trips over mountains and through back roads of Vermont, New Hampshire and Western Massachusetts. New England’s woods and wild places are full of stories: cannibalism in Vermont, Thoreau’s cold and lonely night on Massachusetts’ Mt. Greylock, an Eskimo in New Hampshire.

The slide presentation is free, open to the public and suitable for all ages. A book signing will follow.
The Southwick Public Library is conducting a survey during the month of April to determine what services patrons’ value, what materials they are seeking from the library and suggestions in these areas.
The survey will be available throughout April at the Circulation Desk and online for download through the town’s website www.southwickma.org/library . Click on the link “SPL SURVEY” listed under Additional Links to download and return your completed survey to the library by the end of April. Patrons that return their surveys during National Library Week will receive a special thank you gift. Surveys do not have to be signed.S
