WESTFIELD – Armbrook Village, Westfield’s new independent and assisted living community held its long-awaited grand opening on Tuesday. Over 100 people were in attendance at the celebration, including State Representative Michael R. Knapik and Mayor Daniel M. Knapik, healthcare professionals from throughout western Mass., residents of Armbrook Village and their families, and local community and business leaders.
Grand opening guests enjoyed live music, refreshments, celebratory summer drinks, and guided tours of the newly constructed senior community which houses 122 rental apartments in its independent, assisted living and memory support neighborhoods. The community also boasts a wide array of indoor and outdoor community spaces, including several restaurants, a fitness center, full-service salon, theater, creative arts center, pub, piano lounge, patios, putting green and bocce court.
The new community, which opened its doors April 1, already has over 40 residents living in their new apartment homes enjoying the community’s active “EnrichedLIFE” lifestyle and delicious dining. Apartments are still available for rent and people are urged to contact the new community for a private tour and lunch.
“As our population ages, there is a strong and growing demand for the many benefits that independent senior housing and supportive assisted living has to offer,” said Mayor Knapik. “With the opening of Armbrook Village, Westfield seniors have access to a first-rate community loaded with amenities that allows them to stay in the city they grew up in and love.”
Mike McCarthy, the owner and developer of the project, worked closely with Mayor Knapik and the city of Westfield over a five-year period to build this distinctive senior residence which was inspired by his mother, Jean, who resided in another local assisted living community. Mike was impressed with the lifestyle and care afforded his mother that made her last years comfortable and enjoyable. At the grand opening Mike recognized his mother, noting that one of the most popular community rooms in the building, Jean’s Country Kitchen, is named for her. Mike also recognized the support of his wife, Grace, and introduced his two grown daughters and grandchildren, noting that the outdoor playground that all residents’ grand-kids will enjoy was specifically requested by his eight-year old granddaughter.
“We truly appreciate the warm welcome we have received from our neighbors and health care professionals from all over western Mass,” said Executive Director Beth Cardillo. “We are so happy to be an integral part of the Westfield community and an important resource for local seniors.”
“Armbrook Village provides the best of both worlds – independent senior housing, supportive assisted living and specialized state-of-the-art memory care, all in one building,” she said. “You couldn’t ask for a better combination!”
“We have a variety of apartments available for rent now,” said Cardillo. “Our furnished model apartments are open for tours every day by appointment and drop-in visitors are welcome anytime. Please visit and see for yourself how wonderful life can be at Armbrook Village!”
