SOUTHAMPTON – Aurele “AL” Racicot, 85, of Southampton, MA died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at home. He was born in Chicopee on January 11, 1928 to Albert and Evon (Lapoint) Racicot and has lived in Southampton for over fifty years.
He was the widower of Jeanette (Paquette) Racicot who died on September 9, 2000. Al retired from Mt. Holyoke College where he worked in the refrigeration dept. He was the owner of the former Al Racicot Refrigeration and was a truck driver for M&M Trucking. He also worked part time in the Roads and Grounds Department at Westover AFB. Al was a member of Ionic Lodge AF&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies and Melha Temple Shrine. He was also a Past Governor and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1255.
Al leaves several cousins in the US and Canada and many close friends. The funeral will be Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Calling hours will precede the service from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
