SOUTHWICK – There was a continued hearing with the Select Board on Tuesday night to address the change of manager, director’s, and stockholders of a local bar.

Patrick and Natalie Lynch, owners of the Sky Box, met with the Select Board over the Lynch’s completed acquisition of the Sky Box on Point Grove Rd. from the previous owner. The Select Board made a motion to grant the changes for the Lynch’s.

Despite that decision, the Lynch’s addressed questions or concerns that the Select Board or Lt. Robert Landis of the Southwick Police Department had, who was also in attendance.

Responding to requests the Select Board has to ensure the SkyBox follows noise ordinance rules for establishments in town, Patrick Lynch noted that they are installing additional insulation to help minimize any noise as the establishment is surrounded by a neighborhood.

Tall arborvitae’s have also been planted to help with the noise, along with a stockade fence around the perimeter of the  property.

According to Patrick Lynch, they’ve hired a full-time worker whose role is to check identification and go back and forth from the front to the back door to make sure people aren’t hanging outside for too long. It was noted that this position will be seven days a week, from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. to help reduce any noise.

“We really try to do our best to mitigate those situations,” said Patrick Lynch.

Landis added that he doesn’t believe there’s been one incident at the SkyBox this past summer.

The Lynch’s want to make sure they’re a positive part of the community.

“We feel like we have gone to great lengths,” said Natalie Lynch “It’s come a long way, we have a lot of positive feedback.”
