WESTFIELD – Barbara E. Bulkley (Blair) died Saturday April 16,2016 at the age of 84. Barbara, known as Bobbie, was born in Amherst, MA to Earle and Stella Blair. She graduated from Lesley College in 1954 with an Elementary Education degree. She taught Kindergarten in Glastonbury, CT before marrying Peter B. Bulkley of East Longmeadow, June 25, 1955. They started a family and moved to Westfield, MA in the summer of 1970 with their four daughters, so Peter could teach History at Westfield State College. In 1973, Bobbie began 30 years of substitute teaching with the Westfield Public Schools. She and her family were faithful members of The First Congregational Church of Westfield since 1970. In the church, Bobbie sang in the choir until the age of 77. In retirement, she became a church Deacon. She also joined the Greater Westfield Choral Association where she performed in local concerts and traveled throughout Europe performing in many Cathedrals.
She was predeceased by her beloved Husband Peter, B. Bulkley in 1985; sisters Sylvia Peck and Marilyn Lea; and her parents Earle and Stella Blair. Bobbie is survived by her four daughters and families: Martha Dienst (Stowe, MA), Linda Boucher Williams (Graham, NC), Elizabeth Mye (Redwood City, CA) and Margaret Blair (Westfield, MA); ten grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and her sister Dorothy Sage of Peacedale, RI. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2 pm with a reception to follow, at The First Congregational Church 18 Broad St. Westfield.
