WESTFIELD: Barbara J. “Bobbie” (Hoar) Curran died Friday, November 21, 2014 at home. She was born in Springfield, MA on November 21, 1926 in the Hungary Hill Section of Springfield, MA and was the daughter of the late Nora (Sheehan) and Thomas J. Hoar. She graduated from High School of Commerce in 1944. She was very proud of her Catholic faith and Irish heritage. Barbara married Jack Curran of Westfield on June 2, 1951 and they moved to Westfield, MA in 1959. She worked at Westfield Gas & Electric for twelve years and retired in 1982. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in February 1997, also by her three sisters, Ann, Helen and Mary. Barbara was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church and also a former choir member. She was also a member of the Westfield Y.M.C.A. for many years. Barbara especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid cook and loved to bake and was famous for her chocolate chip cookies She is survived by her four children, Michael and his wife Mary , Nancy Goodniss and her husband George and Thomas and David all of Westfield. She leaves three grandchildren, Matthew, Bevin and Kara Goodniss. She also leaves a special niece Karen Klein Klaus-Herak from Montana along with several other nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all. Funeral services for Barbara will be held from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield on Wednesday, November 26 at 9 AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
