WESTFIELD – Barbara L. (Banks) Switzer was born in Westfield at Noble Hospital on April 13, 1942 and passed away on December 5, 2019 at Care One Nursing Home, Northampton, surrounded by her family. She lived in Westfield most of her life, and also lived in Blandford and Northampton. She graduated from Westfield High School in 1960, and had many jobs, her Uncles Card Shop, Preferred Electronics, Valley Bank and Machine Print Shop.
Barbara L. (Banks) Switzer had five children, Ken D. Ruby, Sr., Margaret E. Ruby, Rebecca (Ruby) Noel, Hazel Switzer and Matthew Switzer, nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, who she loved but only saw some of them. Barbara was extra loved and cared for by her daughter Margaret Ruby. Her son Ken Ruby, Sr., and all his family made extra trips to see her. She leaves her family and friends that knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents, Hazel and Darion Banks, and sister Betty Banks Giles.
She loved Rocking Robin Dave Mandell, he was very special to her, playing Bingo, and coloring with colored pencils of art pictures. She loved cook outs, going places, nature, knitting, and getting her nails painted. She loved country music, Elvis and the Beatles, enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows The Golden Girls, Mash and Andy Griffith. She loved butterflies and raffles at the nursing home and much more.
Donations will be greatly appreciated to help with funeral and stone cost. Donations can be made to Margaret Ruby at the services. Any excess donations will be sent to Dementia Association. She will be loved forever in our hearts and missed. Visiting hours for Barbara will be held on Friday, from 12-1PM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. with a service at 1PM followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Western Ave. Westfield. www.firtionadams.com
